John Galliano: Stepping Away

The exhibition that will never open, and the conversation it leaves behind.
A landmark exhibition that was meant to celebrate four decades of fashion history will no longer happen.
John Galliano has stepped away from his planned 2027 Met retrospective, John Galliano: Horizons, following renewed debate around his past. In his statement, the designer acknowledged the pain he caused and reflected on accountability, recovery and the continuing work of atonement.

It is a decision that leaves fashion with a larger question: how do we hold extraordinary creativity and a complicated human legacy in the same conversation?
The exhibition may be cancelled. The conversation is not.
